Tributes Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt ready to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can finally articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the film, adding that he doesn't recollect "one day without joy".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a distinct tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles judge ruled to block the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A legal directive placed a security hold on the investigation to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" connected to the probe.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a record listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Fallout and Commentary
After the deaths, public individuals expressed different reactions.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making provocative statements that were met with immediate backlash by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the critics recently. Speaking on his show, Rogan characterized the statements as "shocking" and implied they showed a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an aide should have intervened when the choice to speak on the tragedy was made.
